AirPlay lets you stream media files from a VLC media player on your iPhone or Mac to an Apple TV or AirPlay-compatible Smart TV. Using this wireless protocol, you can watch videos or listen to music on a larger screen without connecting your Apple device to the TV. Refer to this guide for instructions on connecting your iPhone or Mac to a Smart TV or Apple TV using AirPlay technology.
Steps to AirPlay VLC from iPhone
Whether you have an Apple TV or an AirPlay-compatible Smart TV or speaker, you must enable the AirPlay setting. Then, connect your iPhone and AirPlay receiver to the same WiFi network.
1. Run the VLC media player application on your iPhone. If you haven’t installed it, visit the App Store to get the app.
2. Browse video or audio files stored on your device and play the desired file in the VLC media player.
3. When it starts to play, tap the Cast icon in the upper right corner. Select a casting device pop-up menu will appear. Tap AirPlay or Bluetooth to scan for nearby devices.

4. Choose your AirPlay-compatible Smart TV, speaker, or Apple TV to connect.
Note: If you have pre-configured a passcode for AirPlay, you can just enter it to finish the pairing process.
The selected media file will begin to play on the selected device via AirPlay.
